Rogue Pickings Website

Given simply a PSD design comp, I hand-coded this webpage using HTML & CSS. By coding from scratch, I acquired a substantial understanding of HTML & CSS syntax and best-practices. Similarly, the importance of proper semantics and structuring was highlighted in real-time. Skills reviewed: HTML 5, CSS, Web Hosting, File Organizing, Code Syntax

Recipe Collection Website

To expand on my HTML & CSS education, I again took a PSD design to hand-code this recipe-card website. While solidifying my grasp on HTML & CSS semantics and practices, I greatly improved my understanding of the Box Model and structuring therein. Skills reviewed: HTML 5, CSS, Syntax, Box Model

Web Page Design

A capstone project for Skillcrush’s Web Design Fundamentals course, I designed this mock-website for a Feminist Photographer in Adobe Xd. Apart from becoming familiar with the software, this project focused on conveying a message and energy through visual cues. Skills reviewed: Typography, Color Theory, Wire-framing, Grids & Layout

Instagram Ad: "Fucked-Up Play Fest"

I designed a poster and 8 individual name cards to promote a production of short plays. These 4:5 cards featured a black & white photo of the given playwright with their name and the event info in bolded, hot-pink text. The images were disparate, so while no true consistency could be achieved with text placement, I adopted a generalized pattern to frame the subjects with alternating text outlines.

Facebook Ad: "Zul Fitness"

For a trainer branching into app-based training, I designed multiple 16:9 ads featuring the trainer’s colors, logo, and masked images of him. Targeted for an older-clientele looking for physical fitness or therapy, the ads were inspired by thick, bold lettering and simple imagery often preferred over loud & busy content.

About Me

I am passionate about creative communication.

Raised alongside the boom of new media, I grew up fascinated by the multidisciplinary art of communication: in particular, I was intrigued with the interweaving of content like words, images, and colors to craft full-bodied messages. I studied Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University where that fascination became bolstered with theory, research, and a knack for critical thinking and analysis.

Between work opportunities and passion-projects, I am continuously expanding my experience constructing creative communications. I have run and assisted multiple social media accounts, performed product photography and photo retouching, and designed digital ads. I recently began studying front-end development and web design, in addition to sustained learning of Adobe Suite. I am looking for opportunities in the communications and design sectors as I aspire towards a career in UI.
